JOB SUMMARY:  The Collections Specialist is responsible for managing customer accounts and proactively communicating with clients to resolve past-due balances through collaborative and solution-oriented approaches.

Accountabilities: 

Collections
·         Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by telephone, email, and statements.
·         Serve as customer advocate when bringing attention to overdue invoices, and help find solutions to resolve past due accounts.
·         Communicate with customers by telephone or through email, including appropriate follow-ups, to determine reasons for overdue                      payments and to make sure payment commitments are met.
·         Answer customer questions regarding problems with their accounts.
·         Record information about financial status of customers and status of collections efforts.
·         Perform various administrative functions for accounts, such as recording address and contact changes.
·         Maintain account records.
·         Take payments over the phone.

Credit
·         Make decisions on credit holds, and provide credit release codes – following up with collection efforts where releases are given.
·         Call to confirm use of questionable credit card payments at the counter, over the phone, and for ecommerce sales.

Misc. 
·         Answer phone (Backup)
·         Take calls/answer questions from customers
·         Assist with rental invoicing when needed
·         Special invoicing as needed


Required Skills/Abilities:

·         Degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience
·         Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, online portals and computers
·         Basic understanding of clerical and administrative procedures
·         Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers
·         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
·         Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records

 Education and Experience:

·         Bachelor's Degree preferred, relevant experience may be substituted.

Physical Requirements:

·         Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
·         Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.  
·         Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
